Economics Graduate Denisa Dervishi Shares Professional Experience with First-Year Students

Denisa Dervishi visited Epoka University on 18 October 2017 to share her experiences and advice with first-year students in the Economics Department. Denisa graduated from Epoka University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 2017 and is now working full-time at Aleat Ltd., part of the IDEMIA group. Her new work follows an eight-month internship with World Vision in Albania and Kosovo and a two-month internship with Vodafone Albania.

Denisa gave a number of recommendations to new students. She encouraged them to set their expectations high and to rise above discouragements. She also advised students to be critical thinkers, questioning their readings and other ideas they encounter. Likewise, Denisa recommended caution in selecting one’s peer group: “choose your circle wisely; it will either drain or motivate you.”

In reflecting on her experience at Epoka, Denisa noted that she particularly enjoyed the “supportive environment,” the “harmony in communication,” the “professors who tried to shrink the gap between university studies and real life,” and the conferences, open lectures, and open forums offered at Epoka.

In concluding her talk, Denisa gave final words of advice to students: “Care about people. Invest in yourselves. Be willing and eager to learn. The rest will follow.”

The Economics Department at Epoka University is grateful to Denisa for her contribution in encouraging and advising a new generation of students and congratulates her on her new work with Aleat Ltd.
