Advice for New Students: Resilda Kalia Offers Insights from Experience

Resilda Kalia visited Epoka University on 18 October 2017 to share her insights and experience with new Economics students. Resilda graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Epoka in 2013. She then continued her studies at the University of Edinburgh, from which she graduated with a Master of Science in Economics (Finance) in 2014. Upon returning to Albania, she worked in a number of positions in the real estate sector and is now the CEO of Liqeni VII sh.a, a company specialized in public works construction. Following her bachelor studies in law, she is also pursuing a second Master of Science Degree in Public Law at the University of Tirana.

Resilda encouraged students with insights from her experience. She advised students to be self-disciplined and hard working. From her experience, the discipline and hard work she invested in her studies at Epoka University were fruitful. When she went to the University of Edinburgh to pursue her master’s, she found that she was well-prepared and could compete on equal terms with the many other students from around the globe in the graduate program. Furthermore, she noted that economics students in Edinburgh were highly respected in the community. Through her experience, Resilda highlighted the need for hard work, but that such hard work was recognized, respected, and rewarded.

In responding to questions about what she looks for in new employees now that she is a CEO, Resilda noted that the ability to contribute to the team is one of the most important qualities. She observed that while technical skills are important, the soft skills of passion, dedication, and teamwork were most important. Resilda wished the new students the best of success in their studies and future.

The Economics Department at Epoka University congratulates Resilda on her outstanding success in graduate studies abroad and in her career and contributions in Albania. Furthermore, the Economics Department is grateful to Resilda Kalia for her encouragement and advice to the new generation of Economics students at Epoka!
